A dental night guard is a customized removable appliance typically worn during the overnight hours to prevent teeth from contacting and grinding against one another.
Excessive jaw grinding and clenching, called Bruxism, can cause headaches, generalized tooth pain, cracked teeth and TMJ problems. Typically this nighttime grinding is caused by stress or anxiety - often unknown to the patient - and is non-preventable. Night guards help prevent the negative oral side effects of bruxing.
